ABOUT Liane Lippert

When Liane Lippert was ten years old, she took her first win in a bike race and just six years later, in 2016, she won the junior European road championships after fending off a strong field of riders chasing behind her. Her aggressive style of racing attracted the attention of Team Sunweb, and she went on to sign a contract with the team in 2017.

Liane’s first season in the team was like a dream come true. “It’s been great to start my professional cycling career riding in one of the best women’s teams in the world. I learned a lot from experienced teammates last year and I really enjoyed the moments where we executed our plan to perfection. Even when we don’t win a race, these are the moments that I most enjoy.”

Outside of cycling, Liane is always on the move. Liane enjoys being outside of the house, having fun with her friends and spending time shopping. Team mates describe Liane as pristine, regardless of the circumstances. “Liane always makes sure she looks like a princess.”

On the bike, Liane is most happy after a hard training ride with good company. Although she enjoys racing all year round, her preference lays in the hiller races. “I prefer riding hilly courses in sunny weather rather than rainy courses in the spring. I know that each race makes me stronger so I always make the most out of everything.”

Her biggest dream is to ride well at Tokyo 2020, but for now the 20-year-old German wants to develop herself step-by-step as a rider and perform well in the ranks of Team Sunweb.

"I like it when a plan works out"
